The Euro Star is to my mind the ultimate road to Paris from London. Two and a half hours from the centre of London, St. Pancras Station to Gare Du Nord, Paris at three hundred kilometres an hour. I suggest going Business premium, which isn’t first class, but they serve you, depending on the time of day, breakfast, lunch or dinner aeroplane style with as much Rose as you want. The fact that you are going through a tunnel that is one of the engineering marvels of the modern world only adds to the coolness of it.

- Montmatre is a must for Paris
Once arriving in Paris I took a taxi to my hotel, The Hotel Lavoisier, my room had three rooms in it, a loo, a bathroom, and a bedroom with a very comfortable queen size bed, and a balcony that gave me a view of my arrondissement of Paris. It’s May, the sun is shining and the days and nights are warm so I felt that the Parisian Gods were giving me a great welcome.
When visiting a place make friends with the receptionist/Concierge so when you ask about things, they care. I was told, for dinner, that if I had some money one should go to Crom’Exquis that was at the end of Rue de Lavoisier, the Chef Pierre Meneau, whose father gained two Michelin Stars, and the Maitre D’ Guillaume welcomed me and we discussed wines and food which made me ask him to show me his talent, serve the wines he felt would pair, and not cost everything I had. They did it all extremely well, we became friends and I was invited to the staff good night party.
There is nothing like driving around Paris to see the Arc de Triomphe, the Tour Eiffel, and the Champs Elysees, but to do it in a self drive Red Ferrari Spyder has a really rather brilliant charm.
Montmatre is a must for Paris, apart from the Basilique du Sacre Coeur, you have squares with Artisits painting, bars, cafes, markets, restaurants and at night a party. Beware, a lot of fun, but there are people that are happy to steal your credit card details!

For one hundred Euros that car is yours for thirty minutes to speed around Paris. I don’t think I have ever seen such envy on the faces of the men looking at my car not to mention the sound of that engine.
After my night in Montmatre my last morning was spent looking at the incredible architecture of Paris, the symmetry of the buildings and the beauty of the statues that are always a feast for the eyes.
